Honda engineered the 2017-2021 Civic Type R to be among the fastest front-wheel drive production cars in the world. However, as a blend of track performer and commuter, certain compromises were made, including the factory intercooling system. Under intense driving or high temperatures, the stock tube-and-fin intercooler retains heat, reducing the performance of the CTR.

The Mishimoto 2017-2021 Honda Civic Type R Performance Intercooler Kit addresses this by significantly increasing the core size to more than double the stock dimensions. The 4.7-inch thick core provides a 169% increase in overall volume and a 189% increase in external fin surface area for improved heat rejection. The core construction has been upgraded to a bar-and-plate design for enhanced flow and heat transfer, while the plastic end tanks have been replaced with cast aluminum for better airflow management.

The kit also includes an overhaul of the intercooler piping. Restrictive factory piping and rubber sections have been replaced with a 2.5" mandrel-bent aluminum cold-side pipe and 5-layer heat-resistant silicone for the hot-side pipe. These upgrades increase airflow and help prevent boost leaks. The kit is available with a black or silver intercooler and wrinkle black or wrinkle red piping options, and includes the Mishimoto Lifetime Warranty.

Installation Notes: 27 in-lbs (3NM) recommended for all T-bolt and constant-tension T-bolt clamps. These clamps have an operating range of 18-35 in-lbs (2-4NM). Do not exceed the maximum torque rating of 35 in-lbs (4NM).
