Enhance the cooling performance of the 2015-2020 BMW M3 or M4 with the Mishimoto Performance Heat Exchanger. Air-to-water intercooling enables more efficient heat transfer from the charged air, requiring an additional heat exchanger at the front of the vehicle to dissipate the transferred heat. The S55 engine in the F8X generation M models delivers strong performance, and while BMW provided a solid foundation for intercooler heat dissipation, there is room for improvement.

The design eliminates plastic components, replacing the end tanks and ports with durable aluminum. The dual-pass flow through the core is retained for optimal cooling, and the core is expanded to utilize available space. The new design features a 42mm thick core, with height increased by 150mm, resulting in a 60% increase in core volume and a 180% increase in external fin surface area. These improvements lead to a 9°F reduction in global intercooling system temperatures compared to the stock unit.

Since the heat exchanger is positioned at the front of the cooling stack, it is vulnerable to road debris. To protect the fins, a steel mesh stone guard is included. A variable fin pitch is used for the lower 12 rows of the core to aid cooling for DCT-equipped models. The heat exchanger also includes the Mishimoto Lifetime Warranty.
