The Mishimoto Baffled Oil Catch Can Kit is engineered to prevent harmful blow-by vapors from re-entering the engine. The EJ25 engine in the STI is prone to producing blow-by gases during both normal and severe driving, especially with increased boost levels. Oil blow-by can enter the intake system, lower the octane rating of the fuel, and potentially cause detonation, which is particularly damaging to the EJ25 engine.

This kit features small baffled catch cans with a bronze filter and internal baffle for improved oil separation from crankcase vapors. The turbo inlet side uses a three-port baffled catch can to maximize oil vapor capture. Two direct-fit mounting brackets are included for straightforward installation on both LHD and RHD models. Six direct-fit hoses ensure durable operation and a factory-like appearance, connecting directly to the PCV valve and turbo inlet ports. Durable barb fittings provide secure connections between hoses and catch cans.

Mishimoto catch cans differ from most air-oil-separator (AOS) systems. The catch cans are not heated, allowing all blow-by, including low-octane oil vapors and contaminated fuel vapors, to condense in the can. Unlike most AOS systems that drain blow-by back into the oil pan, Mishimoto catch cans trap blow-by and keep it out of the engine permanently.

Installation Notes: 22 in-lbs (2.5NM) recommended for all worm-gear clamps. These clamps have an operating range of 18-27 in-lbs (2-3NM). Do not exceed the maximum torque rating of 27 in-lbs (3NM).

Recommendation: After installation, Mishimoto recommends checking the contents of the baffled catch can every 1,000 miles until a baseline is established. Oil blow-by accumulation will vary with ambient temperatures and driving conditions. It is important that the contents of the can do not rise above the internal baffle.
