The 2019-2023 Ford Ranger represents a new generation of American trucks. Featuring a direct-injected, turbocharged engine and up to 7,500 lbs. of towing capacity, the 2019-2023 Ranger balances efficiency with capability. The 2.3L EcoBoost engine delivers over 310 lb-ft. of torque, but its direct-injection system increases the risk of carbon buildup.

Blow-by is common in internal-combustion engines, and direct-injected engines are especially prone to carbon buildup. Without fuel washing over the intake valves, blow-by accumulates and heat turns it into hard carbon deposits. This buildup can reduce power and fuel economy, and if left unchecked, may cause loss of compression and misfires.

The Mishimoto direct-fit catch can kit for the 2019-2023 Ranger 2.3L EcoBoost intercepts blow-by, preventing it from entering the intake and coating the valves. The catch can uses an internal baffle and air diverters to condense oil, fuel, and water vapor, while a 50-micron bronze filter removes carbon and particulates. This ensures only clean air passes through the intake. The kit includes direct-fit lines and a bracket for secure mounting without cutting or drilling.

Installation Notes: 22 in-lbs (2.5NM) recommended for all worm-gear clamps. These clamps have an operating range of 18-27 in-lbs (2-3NM). Do not exceed the maximum torque rating of 27 in-lbs (3NM).

Recommendation: After installation, Mishimoto recommends checking the contents of the baffled catch can every 1,000 miles until a baseline is established. Oil blow-by accumulation will vary with ambient temperatures and driving conditions. It is important that the contents of the can do not rise above the internal baffle.
