The Mishimoto BMW N55 Baffled Oil Catch Can is engineered to reduce carbon build-up, a common issue with direct fuel injection N55 engines. This catch can kit utilizes proven engineering from the Mishimoto 2-Port Compact Baffled Oil Catch Can, featuring a bronze filter and internal baffle to effectively separate oil from crankcase vapors.

A CNC-machined lid with large inlet and outlet ports matches the inner dimension of the CCV hose. The baffled oil catch can helps protect the intercooler, intake system, and VANOS system from oil blow-by, while maintaining proper octane levels to reduce potential detonation. The kit includes two direct-fit hoses and a direct-fit mounting bracket for easy installation and serviceability. Two CNC-machined aluminum 3/4-inch barb fittings connect the hoses to the can.

Mishimoto catch cans are not heated, allowing all blow-by, including low-octane oil vapors and contaminated fuel vapors, to condense in the can. Unlike most air-oil-separator systems that drain blow-by back into the oil pan, Mishimoto catch cans trap blow-by and keep it out of the engine permanently.

Installation Notes: 22 in-lbs (2.5NM) recommended for all worm-gear clamps. These clamps have an operating range of 18-27 in-lbs (2-3NM). Do not exceed the maximum torque rating of 27 in-lbs (3NM).

Recommendation: After installation, Mishimoto recommends checking the contents of the baffled catch cans every 1,000 miles until a baseline is established. Oil blow-by accumulation will vary with ambient temperatures and driving conditions. It is important that the contents of the can do not rise above the internal baffle.
