The 5.0 Coyote engine in the 2018-2023 Mustang GT requires enhanced protection due to the introduction of direct injection and increased power in Ford's 3rd Gen Coyote. The intake tract is now more susceptible to the effects of engine blow-by, which can create an oily residue inside intake manifolds and lower octane levels, increasing the risk of detonation.

The Mishimoto 2018-2023 Mustang catch can kit includes a patent pending 2-port Compact Baffled Oil Catch Can with a 50-micron bronze filter and an internal baffle for improved separation of oil from crankcase vapors. The kit features two direct-fit hoses and an application-specific bracket for straightforward installation. The catch can is mounted away from most intake and supercharger kits, making it suitable for vehicles with forced induction.

Mishimoto catch cans differ from most air-oil-separator (AOS) systems as they are not heated, allowing all blow-by, including low-octane oil vapors and contaminated fuel vapors, to condense in the can. Unlike AOS systems that drain blow-by back into the oil pan, Mishimoto catch cans trap blow-by and keep it out of the engine permanently.

Installation Notes: 22 in-lbs (2.5NM) recommended for all worm-gear clamps. These clamps have an operating range of 18-27 in-lbs (2-3NM). Do not exceed the maximum torque rating of 27 in-lbs (3NM).

Recommendation: After installation, Mishimoto recommends checking the contents of the baffled catch cans every 1,000 miles until a baseline is established. Oil blow-by accumulation will vary with ambient temperatures and driving conditions. It is important that the contents of the can do not rise above the internal baffle.
