The Mishimoto Ford Fiesta ST Baffled Oil Catch Can is designed to reduce carbon buildup, a common issue with direct fuel injection engines. Thousands of test miles were conducted on the Fiesta ST to determine the optimal catch can setup. Mishimoto engineers found that installing the catch can in the vacuum-assisted PCV system yields the most oil accumulation during both normal and aggressive driving.

Placing a catch can on the crankcase vent system on the left side of the engine results in nearly no accumulation on stock or lightly modified vehicles. Using a single catch can connected to the PCV system is most effective for the majority of Fiesta ST vehicles. The kit features the Mishimoto 2-Port Compact Baffled Oil Catch Can with a bronze filter and internal baffle to separate oil from crankcase vapors.

Two direct-fit hoses with pre-assembled quick-disconnect fittings and a direct-fit mounting bracket are included for simple installation. The mounting bracket positions the can in a serviceable location. Two CNC-machined aluminum barbed fittings connect the hoses to the can. The kit includes the Mishimoto Lifetime Warranty.

Mishimoto catch cans differ from most air-oil-separator (AOS) systems. The catch cans are not heated, allowing all blow-by to condense in the can, including low-octane oil vapors and contaminated fuel vapors. Unlike most AOS systems that drain blow-by back into the oil pan, Mishimoto catch cans trap blow-by and keep it out of the engine permanently.

Installation Notes: 22 in-lbs (2.5NM) recommended for all worm-gear clamps. These clamps have an operating range of 18-27 in-lbs (2-3NM). Do not exceed the maximum torque rating of 27 in-lbs (3NM).

Recommendation: After installation, Mishimoto recommends checking the contents of the baffled catch can every 1,000 miles until a baseline is established. Oil blow-by accumulation will vary with ambient temperatures and driving conditions. It is important that the contents of the can do not rise above the internal baffle.
