The M3 has evolved significantly over the years, with each generation introducing new features while maintaining a focus on delivering an exceptional driving experience. The G8X is equipped with the powerful S58B30 engine and offers an all-wheel drive option. Enhancing the S58 engine led to the development of this air intake system as the first project for the G80 platform.

Airbox volume, shape, and construction material are critical for maximizing airflow to the engine. The engineering team designed precise rotational-molded thermoplastic airboxes that eliminate restrictions, provide maximum cool-air entry through two additional ports to the wheel wells, and enhance engine bay aesthetics. The thermoplastic construction minimizes heat soak and ensures durability in harsh environments.

These airboxes were developed using advanced 3D printing, CAD modeling, and flow bench technology. Intake restriction was reduced by 13 percent on the driver-side and 22.8 percent on the passenger-side intake tracts. The kit includes dual high-flow oiled air filters for improved filtration and airflow compared to stock panel filters. The intake system also amplifies turbocharger spool and bypass valve venting sounds, enhancing the driving experience. This is a complete bolt-on kit with all necessary components for installation.

Recommendation: For best performance, clean and re-oil the oiled air filter every 10,000–15,000 miles during normal driving. Inspect and service the filter more often in dusty or off-road conditions.
