The K&N 69-8600TR Typhoon air intake system is a free-flowing, mandrel-bent aluminum tube air induction system designed for select Toyota Corolla, Toyota Matrix XR, and Pontiac Vibe models. The restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing are replaced by the K&N Typhoon air intake, which is engineered to reduce air flow restriction by smoothing and straightening air flow.

This system allows the engine to inhale a larger volume of air than the factory intake, resulting in more usable power and improved acceleration across the engine's RPM range. The 69-8600TR includes a black rubber-topped K&N high-flow air filter that fits into the original air box location. Air is directed through the intake tube into the throttle body, providing a guaranteed power gain.

The oversized cone-shaped air filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before servicing is required, depending on driving conditions. Installation is relatively straightforward, typically taking 90 minutes or less using existing factory mounting points and basic hand tools.
