Greatly expanded the capacity from the turbocharger outlet to the catalytic cell
Expanded the pipe diameter from φ43 to φ45. Furthermore,
the exhaust efficiency is improved by eliminating the second catalyst.
Ultimate exhaust efficiency
HKS designed a new original shape for the outlet part. It greatly expands the capacity compared to the stock catalyzer and improves exhaust efficiency. Furthermore, instead of two catalyzers HKS uses one large, allowing to achieve a low exhaust pressure of minus 35% compared to the factory setup.
Complies with Japanese exhaust gas regulations.
The internal structure of the catalyzer has a low density, but it has passed the Japanese exhaust regulations by adopting HKS unique technologies. The product has obtained a certificate from a third party test organization for compliance with 2018 exhaust gas regulation (WLTC mode test).

Details
Our flow bench test showed that the resistance value of HKS product is lower than that of stock catalyzer/front pipe. As a result of testing exhaust pressure, power, and torque in various combination including factory specifications, we confirmed the effect of HKS metal catalyzer and the importance of total tuning approach for intake and exhaust.

1st back Pressure (turbo inlet)
It can be seen that the 1st back pressure is suppressed by selection proper intake and exhaust as for the factory spec (No.1). If total tuning is applied, exhaust back Pressure can be suppressed to a level of equivalent to factory spec (No. 5) even if boost is increased.
On the other hand, if setting a boost is performed without tuning of the intake and exhaust, it is expected that the extra load on the engine and the turbine may increase.
2nd back Pressure (exhaust back Pressure)
Only install the intake parts (No.1) become increasing the 2nd exhaust pressure. Replacing the exhaust system (No.3) and the HKS metal catalyzer (No.4) support the 2nd exhaust pressure reduction. It means total balanced tuning is important to reducing exhaust backpressure.
Also, install all from the intake system to the exhaust system, you can see that the 2nd exhaust pressure reduces even when boosted up (No. 5), and the vehicle can exert the potential effectively
The power editor at the time of the test uses the default data (No.5). Even with the boost pressure adjustments using the Easy Writer, there is no further performance improvement.
Further improvement require ECU tuning.
