Description HKS 21005-AN025 Piston Ring Set N25 d-94.0 (4 Set)
Piston Rings are very important parts that determine engine performance.
The environment surrounding internal combustion engines is changing significantly, and Piston Ring technology and theory have been constantly evolving. HKS Piston Rings have now been updated with specifications incorporating the latest technology.
Top Piston Ring:
1. Reduced blow-by gas at both regular and high temperatures
- The gas passage area at the joint at room temperature has been reduced by approximately 27% compared to existing products, resulting in a significant reduction in blow-by gas emissions.
- The use of materials with a high thermal expansion coefficient reduces the gap between joints by approximately 88% even during operation at high temperatures.
- The risks associated with the reduced passage area have also been confirmed.
2. High performance and durability through revised materials and surface treatment
- The material has approximately 37% higher thermal conductivity than conventional products. This improves piston cooling performance and reduces ring groove wear.
- Ring tension is lowered to reduce friction.
- The surface treatment has been changed to emphasize initial blending. The film thickness has also been changed for durability, achieving a longer service life than conventional products.
Second Piston Ring:
1. Stabilizes the position of the Top Piston Ring and improves sealing force
- The mating-end gap has been enlarged by approximately 25% to reduce second-land pressure.
- Reducing second-land pressure suppresses Top Piston Ring “fluttering,” the phenomenon of the ring becoming uncontrolled in the groove, and improves sealing force.
2. Friction reduction
- Ring tension is reduced by approximately 18% compared to the conventional product to reduce friction.
Oil Piston Ring:
1. Reduced friction through a 3-piece design
- A 3-piece oil ring is used instead of the conventional 2-piece oil ring. Ring tension is also reduced by approximately 10%, greatly reducing friction.
- Even with reduced tension, the structure does not increase oil consumption. Therefore, the oil-scraping function is not impaired.
