The AMS Performance Nissan Z Fuel Filter is designed as a high quality and sophisticated solution for fuel filtering of the VR30 engine. OEM fuel system component failures are fairly common on the VR30 engine, especially when using higher concentrations of ethanol like E50 or E85. Ethanol is an excellent high octane fuel source with high alcohol content, and because of this it also acts as a cleaning agent.

For some cars, ethanol can dislodge sediment in the fuel tank and lines built up over years of running low grade gasoline. One of the best ways to help prevent this dislodged foreign object debris from making its way into the injectors or engine is by utilizing a high quality in-line fuel filter. The AMS Nissan Z Fuel Filter has been engineered with this purpose in mind.

Where others may use plastic fittings, low grade rubber fuel hose, and leak-prone clamps, the AMS Snailworks Engineering Team has assembled a system using high quality materials intended for years of trouble free operation.

The custom filter housing is designed specifically for the Nissan Z with VR30 engine so that it can be bolted directly to the vehicle’s chassis in OEM bolt locations. Other kits or universal DIY options may use an unsecured generic housing, but this design integrates a mounting solution so the filter unit can be securely mounted. This is a safety feature as much as an aesthetic one, helping to prevent damage to the lines from rubbing on other components and to reduce the possibility of fittings loosening over time and causing a fuel leak.

Inside the filter housing, the shape has been engineered to promote unimpeded fuel flow by reducing or expanding the size of the internal ports. As fuel flows from right to left, the internal volume is reduced to send fuel inward toward the filter. The inlet and outlets are radiused at the ends and tapered at a specific angle for optimal fuel throughput. Significant engineering effort has been invested into this kit to make it a highly effective unit.

The most important part of any fuel filter kit is the filter element itself. Without a quality filter element designed specifically for the intended fuel type, a fuel filter kit would be ineffective. For this reason, a 6 micron glass filter element from a top tier automotive fuel system component manufacturer was chosen. This allows the AMS Nissan Z Fuel Filter to filter particulate down to 6 microns in size for a high level of engine protection.

This 6 micron glass filter is one of the finest fuel filter elements specifically for the VR30 engine, and is selected to protect the engine while providing confirmed compatibility with all fuel types, from gasoline to ethanol and methanol. While this glass filter is a more expensive option, it offers durability and compatibility where cellulose (paper) filters found in cheaper kits have been known to break down when used with ethanol based fuels.
