During testing of the stock oil filter in high RPM GT-R engines, collapsed oil filter media, ballooned oil filter casings, and reduced filtration due to the bypass valve opening under increased pressure differential were observed. This level of performance was found to be unacceptable for high horsepower applications.

Alpha Performance engine builds, running thicker 15w/50 motor oil and operating at RPMs 2000 over stock, require a filter specifically designed for increased flow and pressure. The Alpha Performance R35 GT-R Race Oil Filter Adapter was developed for use in high horsepower racing and street applications, allowing a quality racing oil filter to be used in the stock location for optimal engine protection under harsh conditions.

The chosen filter is designed for racing applications and is suitable for high RPM, thicker oil viscosities, and increased oil flow. Factory oil filters are no longer sufficient for these performance levels, and the adapter enables the use of a widely available racing filter size.
