During testing of the stock oil filter in high RPM GT-R engines, collapsed filter media and ballooned oil filter casings were observed. The bypass valve would open due to increased pressure differential, resulting in little or no filtration. This level of protection was not acceptable for high-performance applications.

Alpha Performance engine builds with increased horsepower use thicker 15w/50 motor oil and operate at 2000 RPM above stock. These conditions required a purpose-designed filter to handle the increased flow and pressure. The Alpha Performance R35 GT-R Race Oil Filter Adapter allows the use of a quality racing oil filter in the stock location, providing added protection for the engine in both racing and street environments.

The selected filter is designed for racing applications, supporting high RPM, thicker oil viscosities, and increased oil flow. The adapter enables the use of a widely available racing filter size, as the factory oil filters are no longer suitable for these performance levels.
