As the limits of the Nissan VR38 V-6 twin turbo engine have been pushed, certain weak points have been identified. In big bore, stroker, and high RPM engines, oil pressure tends to drop at higher revolutions. Research and testing revealed that turbulent air inside the engine can introduce bubbles into the oil, which may reach the oil pump pickup at high RPMs. When the oil pump ingests air, oil pressure drops significantly, potentially leading to engine bearing damage over time.

While a dry sump oil system offers the most reliable oiling solution, its high cost and complexity make it impractical for most enthusiasts. This billet aluminum deep oil pan and pickup extension provide improved oiling without the associated expense and complexity.

Increasing oil pan size often creates clearance issues under the car. This billet oil pan is deep enough to avoid aerated oil but does not extend below the subframe, reducing the risk of impact damage. The factory under tray requires only slight trimming, allowing it to be reinstalled for continued protection and aerodynamic performance.

Note: It is easiest to install the oil pan with the engine out of the car. However, it can be installed with the engine in the car by unbolting the motor mounts and raising the engine.

Note: 2015 models require full trimming of the undertray, exposing the oil pan, but it does not hang below the subframe.
