There are cars that look fast, and then there is the 992 GT3RS. With its active DRS, swan-neck wing, and a radiator setup that sacrificed the entire front trunk for cooling, it is the closest thing to a Cup car with a license plate. In Ice Grey, it looks like a precision instrument—cold, calculated, and intimidating.
But even a car this extreme is subject to the compromises of mass production and global regulations. At ATOMIC-SHOP, we don’t care about "marketing laps." We care about how the car behaves on its twentieth lap of the day, under the brutal sun, when the aero is pushing hundreds of kilograms into the tarmac and the brakes are glowing white.
This project isn't about changing what the RS is. It’s about sorting it.
The RSR Scream: Akrapovič Slip-On Race Line
The 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six is a masterpiece of internal combustion. However, modern exhaust restrictions often act like a pillow over a soprano’s face. We replaced the standard setup with the AKRAPOVIC Slip-On Race Line (Titanium), paired with the P-CP034 Stainless Steel Adapter Set.
This is not just about the noise—though the high-pitched, metallic RSR-style howl is a welcome side effect. It’s about thermal management and weight. By using aerospace-grade titanium, we’ve reduced the weight hanging behind the rear axle. More importantly, the AKRAPOVIC system allows the engine to breathe with far less backpressure, sharpening the throttle response at that crucial 9,000 rpm peak.
Unsprung Precision: ADVAN GT & Pirelli Trofeo RS
The GT3RS is a slave to its aerodynamics. To make that aero work, the mechanical grip must be faultless. We swapped the factory wheels for ADVAN GT Porsche-specific forgings in Titanium Black. Sized 20x10.0 +45 at the front and a massive 21x13J +31 at the rear, these wheels offer a level of structural rigidity that prevents "wheel flex" under the massive lateral G-loads this car generates.
To bridge the gap between the chassis and the tarmac, we chose the PIRELLI Trofeo RS (N0). This is not your standard "track-day" tyre. The Trofeo RS is the new benchmark for consistency. With front and 335/30ZR21 rear footprint, it offers the heat-cycle durability that the GT3RS demands. It doesn't "grease up" after three hard laps; it stays honest, giving the driver the confidence to lean on the aero through high-speed sweepers.
Deceleration Without Compromise: PFC Brakes
When you have as much downforce as a GT3RS, you can brake significantly later than you think. But that puts immense thermal stress on the rotors. We moved away from the factory setup in favour of a full PFC (Performance Friction) Brakes package.
Running PFC V3 front and rear rotors, the car now benefits from a patented floating attachment system that eliminates the vibrations and warping often found when factory discs get "cooked." We paired these with PFC 1773.331.17.44 (Front) and 7727.332.18.44 (Rear) pads. This is a professional endurance-spec combination. It provides a "concrete wall" pedal feel and a release characteristic that allows for incredibly fine-tuned trail braking.
The Track Badge of Honour: Manthey Racing (MR)
The final touch is a nod to the Nürburgring. We installed the MANTHEY Racing (MR) rear tow hook. In the world of GT Porsches, the MR logo is not for decoration. It is a signal that this car is intended for the pit lane, not the showroom. It is a functional, motorsport-grade component that proves this Ice Grey RS is a tool, not a trophy.
Verdict: The Sorted Weapon
The 992 GT3RS is already a legend. But through the combination of Akrapovič’s titanium lightness, ADVAN’s forged strength, PIRELLI’s latest rubber technology, and PFC’s braking consistency, we have sharpened the edge of this Ice Grey scalpel.
It is loud, it is visceral, and it stops with a violence that matches its acceleration. Most importantly, it is sorted.
